Parents are an important part of the team working on the child’s learning and  Development.  They are involved in Assessment, Goal Setting, Therapies,  Special Education and Other supplementary Intervention services, rendered in the school.

Parents play an important role in the holistic education for children with special needs. They have unique strengths, knowledge and experience to contribute to the shared views of a child’s needs, and the best way of supporting them.

Why Montessori ?

Montessori would be the apt system of education for Special Children. Montessori system of education recognises that childen  are different and develop at their own individual pace. Learning in Montessori  is multisensory with hands on activities.

The aspect of ‘hands-on materials’ allows children with special needs, to have concrete experience before transitioning to abstract learning. The sensorial way of internalising concepts actually aids learning.

The AMI ( Association Montessori Internationale ) Montessori trained teachers are trained observers who expertly individualize instructions for every student, not just for those  with learning difficulties. Teachers tailor their lesson plans to include accommodation for the special children.

Thus, children with special needs are included in lesson with the peers (socially included) and receive individualized follow-up work for their specific needs with the guidance of experienced and qualified special educators.

The personal learning approach in Montessori Environment, makes it possible for Individualized  Educational Plans for all children, not only for the children with special needs. Hence there is no scope for exclusion. Thus the special child also follows his or her own plans of education just like his or her peers do.

This dramatically improves chances for children to reach their full potential and functioning to have better quality of life.

Child Centered Curriculum

Children with special educational needs are accommodated, with a child centric pedagogy capable of meeting individual requirements.

Parents, Therapists , Teachers and Guide Teachers work together on a well planned Individualised Educational Plan (IEP) &  Individualized Development Plan (IDP)  appropriate to individual conditions. A wide range of teaching strategies are adopted to suit individual needs.

Rich and stimulating experiences are provided to ensure quality care and education. Such opportunities built on and extend children’s knowledge and experiences, interests and skills, develop their self-esteem and confidence in their ability to learn.
